"Bellas"
I am stimulated by the use of color and wild brush strokes that caused an uproar during the short-lived fauvism movement in 1905, particularly by the work of Fauvist artists van Dongen and Matisse. The German artist Kirchner later drew on this same passionate energy during the expressionist movement. Both movements inspired me to enroll in art classes
18 years ago.
In "Bellas", my most recent series, I celebrate the qualities that all women possess -- an innocent aura with a sense of mystery.
All women are "Bellas".
